Arun River Rafting

This rafting trip is a little more remote than most but the easiest way to get to the river is to fly to Tumlingtar and then trek to Kartikeghat the starting point. Alternatively one can drive for 1½ days from Kathmandu or if you would the experience then it’s possible to trek for three days through remote villages in Eastern Nepal. Then on the river to tackle the powerful current drives your raft or kayak through a few days of great white water action where you face more challenges each day. The days are spent hitting rapid after rapid and the nights camping on remote beaches in scenic valleys. In our opinion, the combination of trekking, spectacular scenery, great rapids and remote location makes Arun the best river to run the fantastic white water rafting trip in Nepal. When finally the Arun meets with the Sunkoshi into a confluence of the Sapta Koshi River and becomes the same as the Sunkoshi River trip.

Day 01 Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m)

On arriving at the Kathmandu international airport you will be greeted by one of our representatives who will welcome you and assist in your transfer to a hotel. They will be available for any questions along the way and will make sure you have the chance to refresh before briefing you on the upcoming trip.

Safer in the raft but there are some great rivers for canoeing .

Day 02 Kathmandu valley sightseeing

No one should come to Nepal and not have a guided tour of the Historic city of Kathmandu. With so many world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley its worth spending the day walking round, taking photos and basking in the mixture of cultures that make up Kathmandu. You will get chance to visit such pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu. Then back to the hotel to prepare for the next morning.

You have the choice of difficulties on these rivers so please let us know your experience.

Today is spent on the river so it’s more fun than previous days as you cross rapid after rapid. This will continue for a few hours before making camp for the evening in nearby the blithe rapid.

The last day on the river means it an easier day than before. As you travel down the river you will find it merges with River Sunkoshi to form in to a confluence of River Saptakosi. Making one of the biggest river in Nepal that flows right through to India before emerging with the famous Ganges in India. From here you float along Saptakosi for another half an hour to reach the site of a temple in Barah Chettra, a Hindu temple dedicated to the lord Vishnu.
