ANNAPURNA POON HILL TREK

Known as the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek it has become one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna district if not Nepal. And this is because Poon Hill has to be one of the best places to view the sunrise and sunset over the 180 deg stunning view over the Annapurna range. On top of this it gives you an introduction into the culture of the people who live in the shadow of the Annapurna making this a great little trek. Every Poonhill (3200m) trek should contain one day where you wake early in the morning from your lodge at Ghorepani and reach the summit of Poonhill before sunrise. Because it gives you one of the best opportunities to view wonderful 8000+m mountains including Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna (I) as well as other less than 8000 meters higher mountains including Annapurna south, Machhapuchhare (fishtail), Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal, Barasikhar, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Hiunchuli and with a maze of other peaks slowly begin to appear, like magic, before your eyes. The trip starts just north of Pokhara that means you start the Ghorepani trek from Dhampus Phedi (Surkhet Phedi), Nayapul or from Beni Bazaar. .. You will enjoy Ghorepani Poon hill trekking in the spectacular mountain scenery .

Day 01 Arrival at Kathmandu valley (1348 m)

On arriving at the Kathmandu international airport you will be greeted by one of our representatives who will welcome you and assist in your transfer to a hotel. They will be available for any questions along the way and will make sure you have the chance to refresh before briefing you on the upcoming trekking in Nepal experience.

Day 02 Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley

No one should come to Nepal and not have a guided tour of the Historic city of Kathmandu. With so many world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley its worth spending the day walking round, taking photos and basking in the mixture of cultures that make up Kathmandu. You will get chance to visit such pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with  temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu. Then back to the hotel to prepare for the next morning.

Day 03 Trek to Ghorepani (2850 m), 6: 30 hrs

The first day of your trekking in Nepal experience begins with around 2 hours of gentle climbing passing through terraced fields and small forests before reaching Ulleri village. This is a small village surrounding by small forest with good view of Annapurna South but its best if you walk a little further to reach Ghorepani where you will spend the night.

 

Day 04.Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180 m.) to Tadopani (2675 m) 7:30 hrs

Today its an early start as you want to catch the sunrise from Poon hill (3232m) where you can see Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhare (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and other numerous snow-capped mountain peaks.  Then after a sunny breakfast your guide will lead you back to the top of Deurali hill station and on to the trail to Tadopani (2650m). Along the way you are surrounded by deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos, Oaks and frequently see waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, local birds and green scenarios. Before reaching the village of Tadopani before nightfall which is surrounded by beautiful forests which grants you a magnificent view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, and Annapurna II and so on.

Day 05 Trek from Tadopani (2675 m.) to Ghandruk (1950 m), 3 hrs
Today it’s an easy trek as you descend gently all the way through rhododendron, oak and other kinds of dense forests. Here the trail is alive with all different kinds of birds chirping away and is a favourite part of the trek for all bird lovers.  Before finally reaching Ghandruk a big Gurung village where there is a handicraft centre and Gurung museum. From this village you can see the views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455 m.), Annapurna III (7755 m.) and Fishtail.

Day 06. Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul (Pokhara): 5 hrs

Another easy day`s walk through rice fields and local villages as you descend towards Nayapul and Pokhara. And it gets easier when you reach Syaulibazar because the trail levels off and it’s a short walk to Nayapul and the scenic drive back to Pokhara as you are heading to the end of your trekking in Nepal experience.

Day 07 Pokhara flies out to Kathmandu. 25 minutes

After breakfast you will drive to the airport for a flight to Pokhara and usually it takes around 25 mins. If the weather is clear it’s also gives you the chance to see the great view of Annapurna and Manaslu Himalayan ranges. Arrive in KTM and you will be transferred to the hotel for a rest.

 

Day 8. Back to your own destination
